Американские врачи пересадили человеку с умершим мозгом свиную почку
В США в Нью-Йорке хирурги впервые провели операцию по трансплантации человеку почки генно-модифицированной свиньи.
Операция прошла успешно. Хирург Роберт Монтгомери отметил, что орган «почти сразу» начал выполнять свои функции — вырабатывать мочу и другие продукты жизнедеятельности.
Операцию сделали пациенту с умершим мозгом, находящемуся на аппарате искусственного дыхания.
Доктор Монтгомери выразил надежду, что в будущем генно-модифицированные свиньи смогут стать постоянным источников органов для пересадки людям. Он добавил, что еще предстоит проверить, сколько будут работать такие органы.
Монтгомери напоминает, что, если ученым удастся найти способ выращивания подходящих людям органов, это решит проблему примерно 100 тысяч американцев, которые в данный момент стоят в очереди на трансплантацию. Более 90 тысяч из них нуждаются именно в почке.
Результатам исследования еще не дана экспертная оценка, они не были опубликованы в научных журналах.
