Американскую деревню после урагана «Ида» завалило гробами. Жители не знают, как теперь их индентифицировать
Деревня Айронтон в американском штате Луизиана, особенно пострадавшем от урагана «Ида», до сих пор не могут окончательно привести населенный пункт в прежний вид. Это неудивительно – здесь живет всего 150 человек.
Наиболее удручающее — гробы, которыми завалены улицы крохотного городка.
Их принес с кладбища мощный поток воды после того, как стихия разрушила дамбу, а Миссисипи повернула вспять. Как и весь город, кладбищенская ограда и склепы не устояли перед натиском ветра и потоками большой воды. Ураган крушил дома в Айронтоне, а водяной поток нес в город кучи тины, травы и гробы.
Местные жители подсчитали — вода разрушила примерно 40 мест захоронений. Некоторые из покойных, «застрявших» на улицах Айронтона, жили здесь и скончались очень давно, в городке не осталось их родни и опознать гроб наверняка некому.
Глава поселения написал президенту Байдену письмо с просьбой о помощи.
