В США судья Верховного суда Лос-Анджелеса Бренда Пенни 29 сентября вынесла вердикт в пользу 39-летней певицы Бритни Спирс, согласившись с ходатайством «звезды» и ее адвоката.
Суд признал право певицы впредь обходиться без опеки отца, Джеймса Спирса, который в течение 13 лет распоряжался ее деньгами, планировал график дня и выступления, пресекал контакты с «токсичными людьми» и, как уверяет Бритни, заставлял принимать подавляющие транквилизаторы.
Решение было принято через несколько месяцев после того, как Бритни Спирс просила отстранить ее отца на драматических судебных слушаниях, заявив: «Я хочу вернуть свою жизнь».
В 2008 году власти учли аргументы отца Спирс, ставшие основанием для назначения опеки: Бритни постриглась «под ноль», а однажды «чрезмерно эмоционально» прощалась с детьми, живущими с ее бывшим мужем.
