Основатель космической компании SpaceX американский предприниматель Илон Маск 1 декабря разослал своим сотрудникам электронное сообщение, в котором заявил об угрозе банкротства. Это связано со слабым прогрессом в разработке ракетных двигателей Raptor.
Маск подчеркнул, что сейчас ситуация еще хуже, чем несколько недель назад.
«Мы столкнемся с настоящим риском банкротства, если в следующем году не сможем достичь частоты полета Starship хотя бы раз в две недели», — предупредил он.
Маск добавил, что намерен уйти на длинные каникулы после Дня благодарения (25 ноября), но узнав о ситуации с ракетами, решил остаться на работе на несколько дней. Складывающуюся ситуацию он описал как «катастрофу».
Raptor является жидкостным ракетным двигателем для корабля Starships. Особенность двигателя — он призван работать на жидком метане и кислороде. Сейчас идут его разработки, Маск надеялся в будущем установить Raptor на космические корабли SpaceX
