Ученые из китайской Школы атмосферных наук Нанкинского университета и американского Института океанографии Калифорнийского университета в Сан-Диего, США решили выделить из океанического мусора «пандемический».
Они потратили на это время и средства, но разработали собственную численную модель и доказали – в океане на данный момент 25 тысяч тонн пластиковых отходов, связанных с продукцией, выпуск и продажа которой связаны только с пандемией коронавируса и ни с чем больше.
Всего за время присутствия вируса в мире в «никуда» выпали более 8 миллионов тонн пластиковых отходов.
В течение 3-4 лет, по прогнозам ученых, значительная часть этого мусора попадет из океана на пляжи, либо осядет на морском дне. Меньшая часть уйдет в открытый океан и станет частью мусорных пятен.
Лидируют в пандемическом замусоривании медицинские организации Азии.
