Последний в Афганистане еврей отказался покидать Кабул. Он будет охранять синагогу
Последний еврей, живущий в Афганистане, 62-летний Завулон Симантов, отказался эвакуироваться после захвата страны движением талибов.
Мировым СМИ об этом рассказал его товарищ — израильско-американский бизнесмен Моти Кахана, который пытался вывезти Симантова из Кабула.
Слова предпринимателя подтвердил председатель Стамбульского Альянса раввинов исламских государств Менди Читрик.
Мужественное решение Симантов принял не сразу. Он он хотел и пытался уехать, но прежде хотел раздать долги, на что попросил у Каханы денег. Кахана денег не дал, и Симантов, который живет в синагоге, решил остаться.
Завулон Симантов — не набожный талмудист. В 90-ых годах регион потрясали его «разборки» с другим еврейским «авторитетом» – торговцем коврами и драгоценностями Ицхаком Леви. В 1998 году талибы даже заключили обоих в тюрьму, где два последних в стране еврея устраивали драки друг с другом. Леви скончался несколько лет назад.
Жена и дети Симантова живут в Израиле.

Накануне Телеграф сообщил о том, что опознаны останки афганца, которого зажало шасси при попытке бежать из Кабула на американском транспортнике, совершавшем перелет с более чем 600 беженцами в Катар. Им оказался известный в стране спортсмен, 17-летний игрок юношеской футбольной сборной страны Заки Анвари.
