Представитель NASA Стефани Ширхольц рассказала, что инженерные возможности NASA позволят поддерживать работу Международной космической станции (МКС) до 2028 года и даже дольше.
«Наша цель — непрерывное присутствие на низкой околоземной орбите, чтобы иметь возможность перейти от станции к другой платформе или платформам, где мы сможем продолжить работу на низкой околоземной орбите», — говорит Ширхольц.
В ответ в России 31 июля на заседании президиума научно-технического совета специалисты Роскосмоса решили «привязаться» к этой дате и начать прорабатывать проектный облик новой Российской орбитальной служебной станции РОСС в составе МКС или в качестве независимой национальной станции.
