Российские ученые будут ставить эксперименты на листьях шпината. А не на животных. Как?
Российские ученые из университета ИТМО в Санкт-Петербурге предложили изучать тромбоз на листьях шпината. Они разработали тест-систему на основе листового овоща для мониторинга свойств лекарственных нанопрепаратов.
Разработка, которая велась при поддержке Российского научного фонда, поможет значительно сократить количество испытаний на животных.
Шпинат был выбран в качестве модели для тестирования лекарств за максимальное сходство его сосудистой системы с аналогичной системой организма. Он оказался более близок к биологическим объектам, чем искусственные пленки, в которых имитировали такие разветвления.
Чтобы сделать из обычного зеленого листа шпината тест-систему, ученые замачивают его в растворе пенообразователя лауретсульфата натрия, который «вытягивает» из него все клеточное вещество. После этого остается лишь 3D-каркас растения. Несмотря на кажущуюся хрупкость, он обладает достаточной прочностью для испытаний с тромбами. Его замачивают в воде, которая заполняет клеточное пространство, и запускают, а точнее проталкивают при помощи иголки в сосудистое русло фибриновый (белковый) сгусток.
На следующем этапе проекта исследователи намерены заселить целлюлозные каркасы шпината непосредственно человеческими клетками. В результате тест-система станет полноценной имитацией человеческих сосудов.
