Слоны, покинувшие свой заповедник в провинции Юньнань и наделавшие переполоху в Китае, вдруг развернулись и пошли в сторону родного заповедника.
За 17 месяцев пути к необъяснимой цели редкие охраняемые животные прошли сотни километров, оставляя на своем пути разрушения. Особенно не повезло, как мы уже рассказывали, фермеру, в хозяйстве которого гиганты нашли запасы кукурузного вина и, опустошив все бочки, рухнули на отдых на его плантациях.
В марте прошлого года стадо из 14 азиатских слонов перешло реку Юаньцзян и направилось на север. Местные власти контролировали путешествие с помощью грузовиков и дронов, а также, используя приманки, уводили животных от населенных пунктов.
Пройдя более 500 километров, животные сделали пятимесячный привал, — одна из самок родила слоненка.
Когда «малыш» окреп, слоны дошли до Куньмина — столицы Юньнаня и развернулись на юг. Сейчас они примерно в 300 километрах от заповедника.
На своем пути животные повредили десятки гектаров леса, общая сумма убытков превышает $1 миллион. Пришлось потратиться и на самого неразумного из слонов, – он заблудился и отбился от стада. Его пришлось на время усыпить, погрузить в перевозчик и вернуть в заповедник.
