Международная группа климатологов зафиксировала рекордное повышение температуры океана в 2021 году из-за глобального потепления.
Ученые проанализировали изменения в теплосодержании Мирового океана в течение 2021 года. Оказалось, что температура морской воды достигла рекордных значений за всю историю наблюдений.
По оценкам, океан поглотил примерно на 14 зеттаджоулей (14 на 10 в 21-й степени) больше, чем в 2020 году, который удерживал прошлый рекорд.
Сильнее всего нагрелись Южный и Атлантический океаны, что объясняется увеличением концентрации антропогенных парниковых газов и климатическими моделями переноса тепла.
В Индийском океане, Тропической Атлантике, Северной Атлантике, Северо-Западной части Тихого океана, Северной части Тихого океана, Южном океане и Средиземном море наблюдается сильное потепление, но с отчетливой межгодовой и десятилетней изменчивостью. Нагретая океанская вода расширяется и разрушает обширные ледяные щиты Гренландии и Антарктиды, которые в совокупности теряют около одного триллиона тонн льда в год.
Более теплые океанские воды способствует усилению штормов, ураганов и экстремальных осадков, что увеличивает риск сильных наводнений.
