Американец утром 18 октября в одиночку отправился в поход на гору Элберт — самую высокую в Колорадо, но по пути заблудился. В течение ночи сотрудники поисково-спасательной службы округа Лейк, к которым около 20.00 обратились родные туриста, тщетно звонили ему, одновременно ведя поиски, — мужчина не отвечал на звонки.
Почему не звонили родные? Звонили, но средства обычной сотовой связи не могли пробиться в зону горного массива. А вот спасатели использовали более мощное оборудование, но их звонки никто не принимал.
Утром мужчина сам нашел потерянную тропу и по ней вышел из лесу достаточно далеко от места, где оставил машину. До автомобиля он в итоге добрался и домой вернулся сам.
Но самое главное — он сказал, что не отвечал на звонки спасателей потому, что звонили с незнакомых номеров, а в таких случаях он предпочитает трубку не брать.
