Ученые назвали в честь Греты Тунберг новый вид лягушки. Ему грозит исчезновение из-за изменения климата
Ученые обнаружили в Панаме на горе Чуканти новый вид лягушки. Редкая лягушка очень маленькая, длиной 3-4 см, и укрывается в растениях.
Но этому виду грозит исчезновение из-за изменения климата в Центральной Америке. Именно поэтому биологи назвали вид Pristimantis gretathunbergae – в честь шведской экоактивистки Греты Тунберг, которая занимается климатическими проблемами.
Гора Чуканти, где обитает много уникальных видов, потеряла более 30% своего лесного покрова за последнее десятилетие из-за мелких и средних животных.
Высотные вид, такие, как дождевая лягушка Греты Тунберг, уязвимы даже к мелким изменениям окружающей среды, объяснили авторы исследования.
