Американский астроном из Университета Торонто Дженнифер Уэст выступил с предположением о том, что вся Солнечная система может быть окружена огромным магнитным туннелем, видимым только в радиоволнах.
Главный аргумент Уэста — указание на два космических объекта, которые принято полагать автономными, но на практике они как бы связаны невидимыми нитями.
Это Северный полярный отрог и Фан-регион, которые обычно изучались как отдельные объекты. расположенные на расстоянии около 350 световых лет от Земли. Они состоят из заряженных частиц и магнитного поля, напоминающих веревки длиной примерно 1000 световых лет.
«Если бы мы посмотрели в небо, мы увидели бы эту туннельную структуру практически во всех направлениях, в которых мы смотрели, — то есть, если бы наши глаза могли видеть радиосвет», — говорит Уэст.
