В австралийском городе горожан напугали стаи пьяных попугаев. Многие погибли
В Австралии случилось непредвиденное – на город Брум обрушилось нашествие пьяных попугаев, которые наелись забродивших манго.
Отмечается, что в конце сезона в регионе Кимберли опавшие плоды остались гнить на солнце и забродили. Они привлекли краснокрылых попугаев, которые наевшись сладкой мякоти, сильно опьянели.
Несмотря на кажущуюся комичность ситуации, она довольно серьезная, заявил ветеринар Пол Мерфи.
Многие птицы погибли из-за последствий «пьянства».
«Обычно птицы страдают несколько дней. Под воздействием алкоголя они становятся очень вялыми и недоедают. Мы слышали несколько сообщений о том, что попугаи влетали в окна или сидели на земле и не могли летать. В таком состоянии они уязвимы для кошек и других хищников», — объяснил Мерфи.
Местные ветеринары вылечили шесть краснокрылых попугаев, которых люди принесли в клинику из-за странного поведения. А множество птиц погибло из-за отравления этанолом, так и не получив своевременную помощь.
