Наводнение, вызванное колоссальным объемом ливней в китайской провинции Хэнань, вынудило эвакуировать почти 400 тысяч жителей.
На борьбу в потоком брошена армия, большей частью беспомощная на автодорогах, превратившихся в реки, по которым бурное течение несет машины и мусор.
В зоне бедствия оказались десятки населенных пунктов с миллионным населением, 33 человека погибли, сообщает Национальная География.
Вслед за плотинами, рухнувшими на севере Китая в регионе Внутренняя Монголия, вышли из строя плотины в Хэнани. Вода в водохранилищах поднялась до критических уровней и продолжает прибывать вопреки усилиям военных, пытающихся отвести воду.
В столице провинции Чжэнчжоу после обрушения плотин оказались залитыми железнодорожные туннели. В ловушке погибли 12 человек, более 500 удалось спасти и госпитализировать.
«Вода просачивалась через двери, медленно поднимаясь «от наших лодыжек к коленям и к нашим шеям. Все, кто мог, стояли на сиденьях», — рассказывают выжившие.
В одном из детских садов детей спасали, сплавляли в пластиковых бочках.
В пригородах люди, забравшиеся на крыши домов, отправляли смс: «Мы не умеем плавать. Вся деревня вот-вот будет смыта».
