Астрономы обнаружили первую в своем роде черную дыру, блуждающую по Галактике в одиночестве и бесцельно. Объект заметили, когда он прошел перед фоновой звездой, искажая свет своей чрезвычайной гравитацией.
Существование изолированной черной дыры доказано впервые.
Как заметили странный объект?
Еще в 2011 году «шатуна » заметили две отдельных команды — в Новой Зеландии и в Чили. В течение последующих лет исследователи проверяли звезду с помощью телескопа «Хаббл», чтобы увидеть, как меняется ее свет. Оказалось, что она не только продолжала менять яркость, но и ее видимое положение на небе, казалось, слегка сместилось, указывая на событие гравитационного микролинзирования.
Анализ показал, что объект не излучал собственного света. Команда подсчитала, что его масса примерно в семь раз превышает массу Солнца. Это стандартная масса черной дыры, но она слишком тяжелая для нейтронной звезды или белого карлика.
Исследователи смогли определить, что черная дыра находится на расстоянии чуть более 5 тысяч световых лет от Земли и движется со скоростью около 45 км в секунду.
Вероятно, она была «выброшена» породившей ее сверхновой, отправив ее в одинокое путешествие по галактике.
