В Японии землетрясение подняло со дна корабли-призраки. Всплыли 24 судна Второй мировой войны
Недавние подземные толчки в районе острова Иводзима спровоцировали всплытие с морского дна японских кораблей, потопленных во время событий Второй мировой войны.
На поверхности оказались 24 транспортных судна. Остатки их корпусов лежат на вулканическом пепле.
Это японские корабли, захваченные американскими войсками во время боевых столкновений за Иводзиму. Позже они были перемещены на западную часть острова и использовались в качестве волнорезов для обеспечения защиты судов союзников.
В ходе битвы за Иводзиму погибли 27 тысяч солдат от обеих сторон. Сейчас гражданские лица не могут попасть на Иводзиму. Остров закрыт после возвращения его США Японии в 1968 году. Территория используется в качестве военной базы японских сил самообороны.
