В Австралии Департамент окружающей среды Квинсленда начал расследование после того, как в сети появились фотографии неизвестного мужчины с щенком дикой собаки динго на руках.
Удалось выяснить, что турист поймал и насильно удерживал животное (возможно приманив его едой), чтобы сделать снимок на память о посещении Фрейзера, одного из самых уникальных островов Австралии.
Изначально туристам напоминают, что любое взаимодействие с динго на острове, в том числе непреднамеренное, является незаконным.
После учащения случаев нападений животных на людей, власти были вынуждены увеличить размер штрафов за вмешательство в жизнь собак с 2,2 до 11 тысяч долларов.
Дикие собаки динго на острове Фрейзер являются самыми чистокровными из всех австралийских видов этих животных — млекопитающие из этой местности также охраняются самым большим количеством законов, чем какой-либо другой вид динго в Австралии.
