Российские ученые из Объединенного института ядерных исследований заявили об обнаружении около 40 различных элементов на куске ткани, который 10 лет находился в открытом космосе.
Поводом для заведомого оставления ткани в открытом космосе послужило наблюдение за тем, как с течением времени поверхности космического оборудования изнашиваются под воздействием осадков, образовавшихся на их поверхности. В качестве «контрольного материала» и оставили ткань.
По возвращении ткани в лабораторию был использован нейтронный активационный анализ. Итогом стало определение нескольких десятков элементов и их источников: космических тел, самой станции, выбрасываемых с Земли частиц,
Исследование позволило подтвердить космическое происхождение железа, магния, кремния, урана и тория.
Источником частиц алюминия, титановых сплавов и сталей, выявленные в осадке, является МКС.
На ткани был также и вулканический пепел, попавший на нее с Земли.
Теперь на МКС будет не только космическая грязь, но и земная плесень
Телеграф рассказывал, зачем французским астронавтам понадобилось доставлять на орбиту плесень под названием «Капля», представляющую собой слизевика из семейства физаровых. Это очередной эксперимент, но не глобальный, а просто интересный.
