Мангры — это деревья, растущие в Индонезии на острове Сумба. Они уникальны тем, что выглядят замершими в танце.
Мангровые рощи растут на побережьях океана, периодически утопая в воде во время прилива. Это целый биоценоз. Особенно много их на пляже Валакири, на побережье с белым песком, где их омывает кристально чистая вода.
На закате морская вода отступает, обнажая корни мангр. Деревья приспособились к соленой воде, где другие растения быстро гибнут. Их корневая система отфильтровывает соль и защищает берег от штормовых волн. В корнях мангр Сумбы живут маленькие рыбки и укрываются ракообразные.
