Внимание миллионов зрителей сегодня приковано к Олимпиаде, но ведь Олимпийские игры – это состязание е только тела, но и духа. А также душевных качеств. Самое время вспомнить о том, как в 1928 году в Амстердаме гребец из Австралии решил пожертвовать «золотом», но пропустить… уточек.
Бобби Пирс из Австралии почти достиг своей первой медали на Играх, лидируя в четвертьфинальном заплыве, когда перед финальной частью дистанции он услышал взволнованные крики зрителей, предупреждавших о помехе, рассказывает портал Чемпионат.
Прямо перед лодкой Пирса возникла вереница пушистых утят. Несмотря на то, что Пирса преследовал его главный соперник, француз Венсан Сорен, австралиец остановился и дал проплыть малышам.
А вот Сорен воспользовался благородством конкурента: сразу вырвался на пять корпусов лодки вперед.
Но разве достойные поступки не вознаграждаются? На последнем километре Пирс все же обогнал француза с 30-секундным преимуществом! Странный поступок? Но красивый и более чем «олимпийский».
