Американские ученые начали растить человеческие волосы у мышей. Это шаг к лечению облысения?
В США в штате Калифорния в Кремниевой долине заработал биотехнологический стартап dNovo. Генные инженеры начали выращивать человеческие волосы на лабораторных мышах.
Облысение становится все большей проблемой. Наиболее распространенными причинами являются гормональный фон, факторами могут быть старение, рак, тестостерон и генетика. По мнению исследователей из dNovo, основная причина облысения заключает в постепенной потере стволовых клеток, которые дают начало волосяным фолликулам в коже.
Идея стартапа: преобразовать обычные клетки в стволовые путем изменения паттернов активных в ней генов.
Эрнесто Лухан, биолог Стэнфордского университета и основатель медицинского стартапа dNovo, рассказал , что его компания успешно пересадила стволовые клетки человеческого волоса лысым мышам.
«В настоящее время мы находимся на доклинической стадии разработки. Мы добились нужных результатов на лабораторных мышах и довольны ими», — говорит Лухан.
Ученый добавил, что команда планирует «в конечном итоге продемонстрировать эффективность в испытаниях на людях и сделать продукт коммерчески доступным».
Но оппоненты проекта считают, что необходимо провести гораздо больше исследований, прежде чем сделать доступным коммерческое лечение с использованием стволовых клеток
