Астрофизики из Университета Западного Сиднея и национального научного агентства Австралии CSIRO увидели в космосе нечто, чему не смогли дать объяснения.
Наблюдая за небом, они увидели странные облака электронов на расстоянии около миллиарда световых лет от нас. Выглядят эти скопления так, что не пришло в голову назвать их иначе, как «танцующими призраками».
«Когда мы впервые увидели танцующих призраков, мы понятия не имели, что это такое. После нескольких недель работы мы выяснили, что видим две родительские галактики. В их центрах находятся две сверхмассивные черные дыры, выбрасывающие струи электронов, которые затем изгибаются в гротескные формы под действием межгалактического ветра», — рассказывает руководитель исследовательской группы профессор Рэй Норрис.
Это тот случай, когда открытие ничего не объясняет, а ставит ученых в тупик. Откуда взялся межгалактический ветер, почему он провоцирует потоки радиоизлучения? Впереди — опытный путь с созданием компьютерных моделей.
