Принято считать, что срок заболевания коронавирусом ограничивается, самое большее, месяцем. Но 47-летняя американка провела на больничной койке, борясь с ковидом, 335 дней.
Женщина была госпитализирована весной 2020 года. Спустя несколько недель ее выписали для продолжения лечения дома с использованием дополнительным кислорода.
Повторные тесты на коронавирус показывали положительный результат. Врачи предположили, что это нежизнеспособные частицы вируса. Однако после один из тестов показал, что уровень вируса у пациентки вырос. Ученые сравнили ее анализы с теми, что были в начале болезни, и выяснили, что в ее организме существуют все те же вирусы. Она не заразилась повторно, а все еще не выздоровела.
За три года до COVID-19 американка излечилась от рака, ее иммунная система ослабла. Это и стало причиной такого долгого течения болезни.
