Фано — итальянский город у кромки Адриатического моря. Бескрайние песчаные пляжи здесь — благодатное место для сбора морских камешков необычной формы. Первые картины из них художник Стефано Фурлани выкладывал для своего трехлетнего сына. Позже стал более требовательно подбирать камни с уникальной геометрией.
Первые картины жили недолго: сначала отец и сын собирали их, а затем наблюдали, как произведения разрушает прилив. И тогда пришла идея крепить камни на деревянных основах. Сейчас картины Фурлани можно приобрести, — что и делают туристы из разных стран мира.

Телеграф рассказывал о двойном рекорде Елены Воронцовой из Москвы. Установив холст на 6-метровой глубине на дне высокогорного озера Кынгыр-Чад в Карачаево-Черкесской Республике, она написала картину, используя специальные краски — мастихины.
