Пегги Максвин из Шотландии, которой недавно исполнилось уже 86 лет, рассказала соседу, что в 1970 году потеряла обручальное кольцо.
Как это произошло? У себя на подворье на острове Бенбекула полстолетия назад Пегги копала картошку. И только дома, когда завершила работу и вымыла руки, увидела, что кольца нет. Наверное, она обронила его, когда вытряхивала песок, попавший в перчатки.
Что сделал Дональд Макфи, которому Пегги об этом рассказала? Купил металлоискатель и исследовал участок Пегги до миллиметра. За несколько месяцев Дональд выкопал 90 «ложных» ям разного размера, но… нашел кольцо.
В одно из утр Дональда постучал в дверь соседке и сказал, что у него кое-что есть для нее. Это было старое обручальное кольцо.
Пенсионерка расплакалась, когда рассказывала журналистам, как важна для нее давно утерянная находка и как обрадовался бы ее супруг, если бы не умер несколько лет назад.
