Даже кошатников трогает собачий жест, когда пес на мгновение наклоняет голову набок. Исследователи выяснили — чем он обусловлен.
Оказывается, собаки наклоняют голову для улучшения зрительного контакта, поиска источника звука — либо чтобы точно понять, произносит ли человек слова, которые пес хочет услышать.
Считается, что собачье ухо чувствительнее человеческого и способно улавливать больший диапазон частот, но определить источник звука псу тяжелее, чем человеку.
Ученые и раньше допускали, что собаки наклоняют голову, чтобы расположить ушные раковины для удобства определения источника звука.
Теперь американский ученый Стэнли Корен пояснил, что вытянутая морда животного иногда мешает обзору. Несмотря на то, что собаки приспосабливаются и со временем учатся не замечать ее, — как люди собственного носа, — наклон головы позволяет видеть окружение с другого ракурса.
Обычно морда собаки закрывает нижнюю часть объекта, на который она смотрит, но наклон головы обеспечивает полный обзор.
